We are YOUR Student Ministry at the Missouri Baptist Convention. We work with Junior High, High School, and College age students across the state of Missouri. Our three core values are Becoming Disciples, Developing Leaders, and Missional Living. We exist to help churches, schools, universitites, etc., reach students with the Gospel and make disciples.

MATT KEARNS: Matt is the Student Ministry Team (SMT) Leader and supervises all the MBC does for junior high, high school, college, and next-generation leaders. His primary focus is on disciple-making and leadership development and he is committed to developing and unleashing the next generation of leaders. He works closely with the collegiate regional coordinators who supervise the campus missionaries on college campuses across the state. Matt is incredibly blessed with an awesome wife, Julie, and loves serving in his home state through the MBC.

JEFF CARSON: Jeff serves in many roles with the SMT including as the main point of contact for campus ministry/missionary information, collegiate Getaway, ENGAGE conference, Super Summer, and Bible Drill. His real passion is to help students follow hard after the Lord through their school years, become young men and women who make disciples, and see themselves as missionaries regardless of their vocation in life. His great partner in life and ministry is his wife, Angela, along with their children, Micah and Avery.

ANGELA CARSON: Angela serves on the Student Ministry team by providing administrative support and helping us coordinate events such as Getaway and ENGAGE.  She loves getting to journey with young women to encourage them in their relationship with Christ.  Her favorite role in ministry is getting to be a wife and helpmate to her husband, Jeff, and a mom to their two little ones.

ABBY SHAW: Abby serves as the summer missions coordinator for the SMT and is responsible for the recruitment, application, and mobilization process for collegiate and high school missionaries. She also helps to coordinate our collegiate international missions opportunities and is blessed to be able to spend time with students on campus at Mizzou through Missio Dei, the MBC ministry on campus.

KELLY BARB: Kelly is a contract worker for the Student Ministry Team who works with us long-distance from Cape Girardeau. She helps with event planning and organization, field communication with staff and campus missionaries, and coordination of team training events. Kelly’s experience as an MBC summer missionary, MBC summer intern, and a NAMB semester missionary is a tremendous asset in coordinating the ongoing effort to mobilize students for the mission. She is married to Eric Barb who serves as a campus missionary at Southeast Missouri State University.
